PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

MOS (MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST)

  • Specialised training in MicrosoftTM Office suite of end-user applications namely Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access.

IT ESSENTIALS (A+)

  • Building & repairing computers, installing and managing WindowsTM Operating System, adding peripherals and multimedia capabilities, LAN basics and connecting computers to a LAN or Internet.

CCNA 1 - CCNA 4

  • Designing, installing and troubleshooting networks, computer hardware and software, networking terminology and protocols, LANs and WANs, structured cabling and network-to-network communications.

WEB DEVELOPMENT

  • Detailed tuition is also offered in the following modules based on the current Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Curriculum for the Adobe Suite of Products.
  • HTML Application Development
  • C# Web-base Application Development

Java FUNDAMENTALS

  • This course of study engages students with little or no programming experience. Students are introduced to object-oriented concepts, terminology, and syntax, and the steps required to create basic Java programs using hands-on, engaging activities. Students will learn to programme 3-D animation, develop 2-D games and create Java applications.
  • Duration 100 hours.

Why study IT Service Management?

There is an ongoing need for a wide range of highly skilled information technology personnel in South Africa. As the field is subject to rapid technological change, it requires professionals who are well trained in IT Service Management. A career path in this field ranges from an IT Service Desk Trainee to IT Service Manager.

What could I do to further improve my skills and my chances of furthering my career?

Subject credits of 50% for the Higher Certificate in Information & Communication Technology can be carried over to the first year of the Diploma in ICT in the following academic year. Students must obtain a 65% aggregate in the Higher Certificate in Information & Communication Technology in order to apply for the Diploma in ICT at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. CPUT automatically accepts the top performing students into their diploma programme.
