Minimum Requirements Incumbent should have a relevant Senior Certificate / Grade 12/ NCV Certificate (Level 4). A recognised three (3) National Diploma/Degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in IT environment such as), networking, technical support software, application installations, configuration and upgrades, and systems development. Valid code 08 driver’s license. Interpersonal skills. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work under pressure and take initiative.
Competencies, Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of computer architecture. Network architecture. Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance on systems software, applications, hardware, networking, and communications. Experience in troubleshooting systems. Skilled in software and hardware installations. Proficient with all OS versions of Microsoft and MAC. Good technical working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory User and Group Management. Able to work effectively as a member of a team, providing support to colleagues and demonstrating a flexible approach. Experience in providing support to different types of users. Ability to determine computer problems and coordinate hardware, software, and/or network solutions. Computer peripherals. Computer operating systems. End-user software applications. Troubleshooting tools and procedures. Intranet and internet information systems. Server operating systems. Client-server operating environments. Data back-up programmes and technologies. System design and programming.
Duties Ensure that all requests for IT support are actioned in accordance with service desk procedures and priorities. Responsible for delivering day-to-day IT support to all users and addressing ongoing or reoccurring issues impacting the service. Assist and work in developing, embedding and managing the methods of working practices within the IT Support Team, including proactive IT support to end users to ensure that a high-quality, professional IT service is provided to the college community. Work collaboratively to ensure the IT support service meets the needs of its users and contributes to the future development of the service and the college’s IT strategy. Provide support for college events, internal and external where IT support is required, including setting up and testing of equipment. Providing training to all users of the college’s IT systems and services. Assist in the maintenance of up-to-date documentation of all relevant IT and AV systems and hardware, including maintenance contracts and warranties. Assist in the maintenance and management of an up-to-date assets register enabling the tracking of all ICT assets. Supporting and maintaining all college-owned user technology including desktops, laptops, printers, software and mobile devices. Able to act on own initiative to identify and solve day-to-day problems. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with standard and project/operational requirements. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system, and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Maintain operational, configuration or other procedures. Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity. Attend to Troubleshooting and resolving end-user requests and queries on office computer hardware including printers and telephones.
