Minimum Requirements | Incumbent should have a relevant Senior Certificate / Grade 12/ NCV Certificate (Level 4). Recognized three (3) year National Diploma (NQF level 6) in sports Management or equivalent. 1-2 years’ experience in sports and culture environment. A driver’s license will be an advantage. Sports Administration, cultural administration, ability to capture data, operating computers, collecting statistics, the legislative framework governing the Public Services, and knowledge of procedures in terms of the sporting working environment in the tertiary institutions. An appropriate professional qualification or degree in teaching is an added advantage; Excellent communication and organisational skills. The initiative and vision to drive the sports code. A genuine interest in and concern for young people. Enthusiasm, commitment and passion for education; The ability to work closely and co-operatively with colleagues; Good IT skills; The ability to uphold the ethos and values of the Colleges. |
Competencies, Knowledge and Skills | Competence in sports and exercise. Has a command of the fundamentals and skills in common forms of sports and can apply these in different target groups. Is familiar with the fundamentals of applied sports. Understands the different kinds of sports as a means and tool to develop psychomotor proficiency, physical characteristics, expression of self and promote health. Is familiar with basic anatomy and physiology and can apply the knowledge in promoting health and physical activity for different target groups. Can plan purposeful training programmes and forms of activity based on physical tests. Knows the individual’s physical, psychological and social development. Can purposefully and in a versatile manner use different models and styles of instruction and education in different target groups. Can plan, perform, evaluate and develop physical activities. Can make use of physical activity to support the individual’s development. Can create a learning- and instruction philosophy that is based on their fundamental values and knowledge. Can apply the ethical principles within their profession. Competence in health and wellbeing. Understands and can define concepts within health and well-being as well as apply theories and methods for health promotion and sports at an individual, group and community level. Realises the potential of sports and exercise for innovative integration and product development with related College employees. |
Duties | Facilitate the development of young students’ sports, arts and culture within the context of a TVET College sports programme. Facilitate and develop a programme for physical education lessons and be involved in the teaching thereof. Organise, administer and manage the designated sports, arts and culture programmes and events at the College; Plan and arrange tours and festivals.; Plan and arrange season fixtures; Manage designated assets and budgets; Ensure that the sports and arts and culture codes for the College are organised for each fixture. This includes Team lists, calendar updates, grounds, catering, transport, first aid and subsistence and travel; Control of sports equipment; Acting as an assistant organiser for all College events including all inter- campuses competitions; Ensuring that all sporting results for the College are collated and submitted for publication on the College website. Attend all practices and matches and the administration thereof. Ensure the coaches’ co-curricular report comments are collected, checked and loaded on time. Coordinate the establishment and provide support to sport and recreation structures in the College and local areas, in conjunction with the stakeholders. Promote sustainable capacity development programmes in sports, arts and culture across the campuses. Render administrative functions in relation to implemented programmes, including implementing physical training Arts and Culture programmes. Irregularity Committee. Ensure the overall supervision and management of issuing the certificates. Ensure overall supervision and proper administration of the examination services. Supervise human, physical, and financial resources. |
