Level 5 Higher Certificate - IT Service Management (CPUT)

LEVEL 5 HIGHER CERTIFICATE (IT Service Management)

The course prepares students for professional careers in Information Technology and specifically in the field of IT Service Management.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

NOTE: ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE MADE DIRECTLY AT CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology)

Applicants with a Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)

  • Home Language 50% 
  • Mathematics 40% OR
  • First Additional Language 40% 
  • Mathematical Literacy 60%. 
  • In the instance of a high school Umalusi Matric qualification, these afore-mentioned subjects, plus three additional subjects (excluding Life Orientation) should amount to an Academic Point Score of between 30.0 (300%) and 35.9 (359%). 
  • In all instances one language must be English.

Applicants with a NC(V) Level 4 Qualification.

  • English Language 50%, 
  • Mathematical Literacy 60%. 
  • Mathematics 40% or 
  • In the instance of a TVET NC(V) qualification, these afore-mentioned subjects, plus four additional subjects (excluding Life Orientation) should amount to an Academic Point Score of between 30.0 (300%) and 35.9 (359%).

Why study IT Service Management?

There is an ongoing need for a wide range of highly skilled information technology personnel in South Africa. As the field is subject to rapid technological change, it requires professionals who are well trained in IT Service Management. A career path in this field ranges from an IT Service Desk Trainee to IT Service Manager.

What could I do to further improve my skills and my chances of furthering my career?

Subject credits of 50% for the Higher Certificate in Information & Communication Technology can be carried over to the first year of the Diploma in ICT in the following academic year. CPUT automatically accepts the top 20 students into their diploma programme.
